C.H., who is 67, was experiencing general pain as well as joint pain especially in her knees every day. Just riding in the car caused extreme back pain. She was unable to do simple activities like taking a walk or getting up easily off the floor. She also felt unstable and worried about taking a fall. She credits EMX with helping her to understand her body and very carefully addressing her issues. When she began working with Munsterman, they started by releasing some of the primary areas of concern. They are now working on strength training. “I am now rarely in any kind of pain. I am getting stronger and playing more actively with my grandchildren, playing pickleball, hiking. I also have much greater balance,” she says. “EMX truly understands this population of folks 60 and older.”
S.S. sought out EMX after a knee replacement. The 73-year-old worked with Munsterman afer surgery, through rehab, and now exercise. “I’m doing great now. Michaela has been a life saver - a knee saver,” she says. “The group classes keep me going and getting better year after year.”
D.H. health issues are osteoporosis and essential tremor. In addition, she suffered from poor posture, back and neck pain, and general loss of muscle tone, strength and endurance. Working with EMX has improved the 65-year-old’s core, hip, and overall muscle strength. She says the targeted interventions for her back and shoulders have also greatly improved her posture and pain issues. “EMX has given me a safe place and the confidence that I can feel strong and improve my health,” she says.
J.L.S, age 43, suffers from endolymphatic hydrops and vestibular migraines (a vertigo condition that tends to affect women in their late 30s). She went from an active lifestyle that included walking 3+ miles a few days a week as well as weekly Pilates and Spin classes to being bedridden. Movement and driving or riding in the car would bring on the symptoms, severely limiting her life.
When she was finally accurately diagnosed and her condition managed after several years of frustration, she was ready to be active again, but ended up in pain with every attempt. She spent over a year in physical therapy, which reduced the pain but didn’t sufficiently improve her strength or balance. Almost three years after her condition began, she found EMX. By that time, she couldn’t raise her hands above her shoulders.
“EMX met me where I was, “ she says. “The workouts we did were targeted at building my strength, increasing my range of motion, and restoring my balance. I learned that when done correctly, movement can be medicine.” Encouraged, she began to add physical activity to her workouts over time – returning to daily dog walks, light cardio, and graduating from one-on-one sessions to a class format.
She is now out of pain and back to Pilates, walking a few miles on the weekends, and has even picked up pickleball. She continues to train with EMX and hopes to be a regular at spin class as things continue to reopen. in January, she went on a seven-day yoga retreat in Nicaragua – a trip that was unimaginable two years ago.

"I started seeing Michaela (via Zoom) in January. At that point I had had to quit pilates because of repeated injuries to my knees. I was having trouble even going up and down stairs. It is now October and I am able to (carefully) do squats again. Michaela is not just knowledgeable, she is intuitive. When an exercise doesn't work well with my body one way, she always has another that accomplishes the same goal. Do not accept that growing older means moving less or giving up exercise all together. You can get stronger than you are now without injury. I could not recommend Michaela more highly."

"I feel so fortunate to have found Michaela/Elite Medical Exercise! I've worked with many trainers over the years; she's far and away the best of the best. At 63, my goals are strength, flexibility, and balance. I've improved in all three in the year I've worked out with Michaela. Even better, I know I'll see more improvement in the future. One of the many qualities that makes Michaela unique is her use of highly visual cues that really stick with me as I work to perfect my form. She'll remind me to "hinge at the hips," and "zip up my core." Once these cues really sink in, the ability to make corrections comes much more naturally. I'm a fan, and no matter your level of fitness, I bet you will be, too!"
